拥有出色的足球运动员，也有着属于自己的足球队。2008年，英利集团宣布出资组建保定英利足球俱乐部，组队初期，俱乐部致力于参与各类业余联赛，并取得了诸多殊荣。2015年，英利俱乐部正式宣布报名参加2015年中国足球协会乙级联赛。然而，职业联赛并非一路坦途。同年，由于种种原因，英利放弃了继续投资。
2016年，容大足球俱乐部加大投入，对俱乐部发展进行了新的规划和部署。
他们将主场迁移至保定市中心，交通便利的人民体育场，并对体育场投入巨资进行大规模改造。
同时俱乐部又用自己的诚意打动了内地名帅赵昌宏执掌球队（在球员时代，赵昌宏曾入选过米卢时期的国家队，退役后，曾先后在陕西国力，安徽九方，长春亚泰，力帆女足担任主教练）。
在引援中，容大足球俱乐部还签下了河北籍著名中超球员广州富力的李岩，以及长春亚泰的米田贺、刘晓东，广州富力的文超，赵博，天津泰达的杜君鹏等，又将原湖南湘涛队员赵旭东和去年中乙联赛北区最佳射手的张爽收入帐中。加上原来队中具有多次成功冲甲经验的队长邸佑，球队的整体实力有了明显提升！
2016赛季容大球队将凭借着“打不倒，拖不夸，每球必挣，不离不弃，生死相拼”的精神实现保定人的职业足球梦想，让保定容大成为河北体育的新亮点，创造新的保定足球历史。
